DESCRIPTION:Berries and bison and trees, oh my!\nThe fur trade – and the survival of people – depended on the bounty of the land. How much do you know about fur trader interactions with the land around them?\nJoin us this weekend as we get to know the plants and animals around us and how the people of the forts ate.\nHave you ever wondered about the large pile of bison bones at Fort George? It’s left over from pemmican making. Pemmican was the staple food for travelling fur traders, made from dried bison meat, fat, and berries. This weekend, we’re going to revive the work done at Fort George in the 1790s by making some pemmican ourselves.\nTake part in scavenger hunts, games of deduction and discover some fun trivia along the way!\nAn event for all ages.\nJuly 18 to July 19\nAugust 15 to August 16\n11 a.m. to 4 p.m.\n
