Background on fly-in
This event first took place in 2020 when local airplane enthusiasts wanted to travel around and see the different airports in the area, have the community come and see the variety of planes and have the opportunity to socialize. The air tour has since showcased other airports in Alberta. It is an opportunity to learn more about aviation and the useful aviation infrastructure in our own back yard. MLA Shane Getson and Dina Jammez, president of Alberta Air Tours have been a driving force behind the endeavour. Through the assistance of the Josephburg Ag Society and Strathcona County, the local aerodrome was added once again to the 2023 Tour. New this year is the Classic Car addition making it the Wings and Wheels Tour. Although it isn’t an event that happens every year, it is a worthwhile cause to let everyone know about this hidden gem airport in Ward 5, Strathcona County.
