The hamlet of Bruce is proud to be the home of the Bruce Hotel, an icon in Central Alberta for over 100 years.  The small, yet regal hotel once housed weary travellers in its 10 rooms.  Now, the present-day building fills nearly every weekend with hungry diners indulging in a fantastic steak supper.  Claimed to be the best steak in Alberta - definitely worth the roadtrip!

OUTDOORS

Developed out of a former coal mine, Black Nugget Lake Park has spacious treed sites or back-to-nature tenting. Sites range from full hook-ups to basic with no services; it does have two picnic shelters/cookhouses for your advantage. Complete with a boat launch, enjoy boating (non-powered), canoeing, kayaking, trout fishing or take advantage of the scenic hiking trails and enjoy some birdwatching. The children will enjoy a sand-covered playground and large playing field, or enjoy a game of basketball, volleyball, tetherball or horseshoes with a few friends. Also next door is the 18-hole Coal Creek Golf Resort, so don't forget to pack your clubs.

Just minutes from Viking, Camp Lake Park is the perfect place to get away from it all and relax. Choose from powered or non-powered sites, and don't forget to take advantage of either one of the two cook house/shelters. While visiting Camp Lake Park campers can enjoy all sorts of boating, water-skiing, canoeing or kayaking. Use one of the hiking trails and take in some birdwatching. You can spend an afternoon swimming on one of the lake's two beaches, or enjoy a game of beach volleyball. Camp Lake has a large sand covered playground, a playing field for the children, basketball hoop, volleyball net, tetherball and horseshoe pits. Enjoy the day use area for a relaxing daytime visit with the children or a few friends.
