Where Friendships Are Hatched
The Chicken Coop was hatched on February 14th, 1995 and has remained exclusively family run and operated from its inception.
Owner, Valerie Retzlaff, has a passion for all things quilting, sewing and crafts and she worked hard to create a unique shopping experience for the community and visitors from that passion. Valerie’s family have been instrumental in building the shop into a successful business.
Why Go?
If you haven’t been by to shop at The Chicken Coop before, start the experience before you walk through the doors by appreciating the painting on the shop’s exterior, a work of love by artist Robert Murray.Inside you can browse through one room filled with quirky and unique gift items. Another room is bursting with all things needed for pleasurable and successful quilting endeavours; from the more than 1600 bolts of quality cottons to books, notions and patterns, you will find everything you need, and more, for your next quilting project. Many of the quilting kits are unique to The Chicken Coop, as are many of the patterns – designed by local quilting artist Diane Johnston.
Or perhaps this is your first foray into the quilting realm? No problem! Consult with Valerie and she will enthusiastically assist you with each step from planning to gathering all the necessary materials and tools, to tips and advice to help the process progress smoothly to completion.
