Ponoka is home to Canada’s Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame, which honours the greatest pro-rodeo legends in Canada.  See the World’s Largest Bucking Saddle Bronc Horse and Rider at the Lions Centennial Park.  Horse lovers can also enjoy horse and livestock shows almost every weekend at the Calnash Ag Event Centre.

Fort Ostell Museum allows you to step back in time and see how the unique history of Ponoka comes to life through thousands of artifacts and stories.

Ponoka EVENTS


Experience the Ponoka Stampede – one of the top 10 rodeos in the world!  Take in all the jaw-dropping rodeo action and star-studded concerts from June 25 to July 1.  The Ponoka Stampede Parade delights kids of all ages on June 26, and features horse-drawn carriages, lively marching bands, classic cars, clowns, colourful floats and so much more!

The Spring Festival on May 30 at Lions Centennial Park is filled with a wide variety of activities and entertainment for the whole family.  The Community-Wide Garage Sale, held in July, is a perfect time to find new-to-you treasures throughout the community.  Fall Fest, held in downtown Ponoka on September 11, is another wonderful way to indulge in delicious local food and to experience live music that will keep you dancing all night long.

There are plentiful parks and playgrounds to explore.

Take a stroll or ride a bike along 10 km of scenic river valley trails. 

You can cast your line at the stocked fishing pond at Lions Centennial Park too!

Golfers can tee off at the beautiful Ponoka Golf Course, while the 18-hole disc golf course offers another fun way to test your aim and challenge family and friends.

On those hot summer days, you can cool off at the outdoor splash park.
