Gibbons is located at the focal point of Highway 28A and 28.  This community, situated on the edge of the Sturgeon River, became the first stop on the Athabasca Landing Trail, now known as Mile 26 Park where you can enjoy a picnic lunch and sit with your family reflecting on times from the past.

Gibbons Museum

The Gibbons Museum is run by the Sturgeon River Historical Society, whose members dedicate hundreds of volunteer hours each year in maintaining the grounds and preserving the local pioneer history. The Gibbons Museum consists of a number of local historic buildings, that have been moved to their current location and preserved for future generations to enjoy!

Outdoors

Echo Glen Park includes over 2 km of natural walking trail along the Sturgeon River Valley.  The park has a picnic area with outdoor cooking stoves and a fish pond that is stocked yearly with trout.  Gibbons also has a range of facilties including a skateboard park, a new NHL regulation-size outdoor skating rink, a spray park, and a leading-edge fitness centre.  Just north of town, you will find Goose Hummock Golf Resort and Jurassic Forest park, which will delight the kids.
