French Mural Capital of Canada

The Town of Legal is known as the French Mural Capital of Canada. On November 21, 2011, the Town of Legal was also recognized as the French Mural Capital of the World per capita. There are over 35 murals proudly displayed around Legal, welcoming visitors to this bilingual community.

Legal is proud to be the “French Mural Capital of Canada”, with the highest concentration of murals per capita in the world. Admire and capture over 35 painted murals on the walls of buildings found throughout the town.

The murals portray the history, events and challenges of the francophone families, the organizations, and the religious communities. Explore the murals via a self-guided tour with an online map available at legal.ca or download the Balado Discovery app.

Experience the French culture firsthand at the Fête au Village, and enjoy the many other events, tournaments and ceremonies held during the year for residents and visitors alike.

Outdoors

You can breathe the fresh air when you visit Citadel Park, a 12-acre indoor/outdoor recreation area, complete with ball diamonds, soccer fields, skateboard park, barrier-free walking trails, an arena, and curling complex. Stop by for a picnic, or camp at Centennial Park. Enjoy the company of friends and family as you watch the sunset around a campfire. Drop a fishing line in the stocked trout pond, while the children climb on the nearby play structures.
