Where can you find a Fall parade, hay rides, stage entertainment, loads of kids’ activities, a car show, family supper and dance, and so much more?
At the 19th annual Andrew Garlic Festival
Come out to the community of Andrew on Saturday, October 14th and enjoy a family day packed full of festivities and all things garlic.
Wait; garlic? Yes, garlic!
The Amazing Garlic Race, Garlic Bingo, and the famous garlic peeling contest – these are but three of the fun highlights of this fun-filled day.
Get there early and begin your day with a stack of delicious potato pancakes. This pancake breakfast runs from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Check out the special farmer’s market and craft show at the curling rink, and don’t miss the bench show at the hall.
Beer gardens open at 11:00 a.m. – a perfect place to rest up for a while and enjoy the live entertainment. Don’t miss a plate of Andrew’s famous perogies, served up at the Rainbow Club from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Throughout the day, you can also find concession service at the hall. Buy a cup of coffee and receive a FREE commemorative Garlic Festival mug!
Whatever the weather, the parade must go on! See this special, autumn themed parade at 1:00 p.m. Make your way to the ball diamonds and take in the fantastic display of all things classic at the Garlic Festival Car Show.
The kids will enjoy many activities throughout the day, including bouncy house and trampoline fun, a petting zoo, face painting and balloon art, a horse carousel, hay rides, and the wind-up event of the day – the Flashback Family Frolic. Dress up the whole family in 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s era garb and enjoy a fantastic supper followed by a groovy family dance. Music by Velvet Hand will have you twisting and jiving the night away!
Other events of the day include guest speakers on the topic of – you guessed it – garlic; live stage entertainment, including Nikolai (the magician, juggler, and clown), Dunai Ukrainian Dance Ensemble, and Safire (world-renowned circus and fire entertainer); town-wide scarecrow contest; and silent auction.
If you’re looking for information about the various events and activities of the day while you’re at the festival, head to The Clove Cove – the information center for the day’s events and the source for your Garlic Festival souvenirs and sample roasted garlic.
Admission is just $3 per person for the full day’s events and fun (admission to dinner and dance extra; advance tickets are required for this event).
See you there!
