Metis Crossing Traditional Métis Slippers and Mittens Workshop

Slippers and mittens were essential items in the everyday winter wardrobe of the Métis. As with most traditional Métis garments, they were often adorned with floral patterns and ribbons.

Choose either mittens or slippers to make and decorate; learning basic techniques in hand sewing and traditional Métis adornments, like working with fur, beading, embroidery and ribbons.
