Metis Crossing Ukrainian New Year Brunch
January 18, 2026
Métis Crossing is hosting a special Ukrainian New Year Brunch right here on Métis homeland, in the spirit of friendship with our Ukrainian neighbours from Smoky Lake and Victoria (Pakan). For generations, Métis families have lived, travelled, and gathered along this river and across these lands. When Ukrainian settlers arrived in the late 1800s and early 1900s, they came to a place already shaped by Métis knowledge and care. Over time, our communities became neighbours, working side by side, sharing seasons, and facing prairie life together.
This brunch honours that history.
It’s rooted in Métis hospitality and celebrates the Ukrainian New Year as a time for renewal, gratitude, and community. You’ll enjoy a delicious brunch inspired by the land, shared the way Métis gatherings have always happened: through good food, great conversation, and respect for those who came before us.
At Métis Crossing, we know that history lives in relationships. This gathering isn’t just about the past. It’s about recognizing how our shared experiences continue to shape this region today.
Join us as neighbours on the land, at the table, and in the new year.
