Let’s talk great golfing – East of Edmonton style! Below, we’ve assembled some of our favourite family-friendly golf courses located just East of Edmonton. Experienced golfers and first-timers will find lots to enjoy at these golf courses – and we’re sure they’ll be able to give you experiences you’ll want to return to time and time again!

Northern Ridge Golf & RV Resort – Surrounded by endless farmland and marked by vintage farming equipment, Northern Ridge is about bringing the family out to play! Located near Long Lake Provincial Park in Thorhild County. Between its gorgeous campgrounds and golf service that prioritizes affordability, this golf course provides a bang for your buck. It’s home to a brand new, 1600-square foot state-of-the-art licensed clubhouse, making this a must-visit for your weekend retreat.

Redwater Golf Club – Between its lush greens and family-friendly atmosphere, you’ll think twice about saying no to a quick putt at Redwater. The golf club offers a great junior program for kids and its location to a number of hotels and amenities makes Redwater a great place for tournaments.

Elk Island Golf Course – Located deep within Elk Island National Park, this nine-hole course is notable for a few reasons; it’s one of the oldest courses in Alberta, and it was designed by the golf great Stanley Thompson. It’s some of the best golf you can play in the region with its wide fairways and endless rolling terrain. And the best part is you won’t have to go very far afterwards to keep the family entertained – it’s Elk Island National Park, after all!

Whitetail Crossing Golf Course – Located right in Mundare, this 18-hole course is not for the faint of heart: it’s been home to tournaments and been named a ‘must-play’ course by players all across Alberta since 2011. It’s a golf course impeccably maintained, with some fairway areas that will be a blast to play even if they test your mettle in the process. They also offer some fantastic promotions and long-term specials such as all you can golf Mondays where rental fees cover a full green fee with a cart, Tuesday 2 Can Golf for the low price of $79, Seniors-only mornings every Wednesday where $45 gets you 18 holes with a cart and the added delicious bonus of a donut and coffee, and finally Thursday is free carts all day.

Vegreville Kinsmen Golf Course – Offering 3370 yards of intense nine-hole action amidst water hazards, bunkers and difficult fairways, the Vegreville Kinsmen Golf Course is a great getaway for just about anyone. The golf course recently added a café, dishing out hearty fresh meals and homemade soup for groups ranging from massive parties to quiet golf retreats. And if you’re looking to host an event on a pretty space, you’re in luck – the course and its clubhouse provides rentals for any kind of event.

Smoky Lake Golf Club – Designed by renowned Alberta golf legend Sid Puddicombe, the Smoky Lake Golf Course promises beautiful scenery and needs to be on your golf bucket list!! Offering four sets of tees, scenic holes and some perfectly laid out traps, enjoy relaxing greens on a spectacular nine-hole course that just seems to get better and better every year.

Bonnyville Golf & Country Club – Champions should always play in style. The Bonnyville Golf & Country Club brings an elite level of comfort to this 18-hole championship golf course, one of the most respected in Northern Alberta. It’s a par 72 course with a diverse playground for you to sink your teeth into – narrow fairways, gorgeous hills and bunkers and stunning vistas as far as the eye can see of Moose Lake and Chatwin Lake. Who said you can’t enjoy a challenge with a view?

Daysland Golf Club – Described as East Central Alberta’s hidden gem, this golf course is tucked away along Highway 13, a nine-hole course that’s fun and testing for players of all skill levels. There’s a new island par 3 hole, a stunning new addition to a course riddled with creeks, ponds and sloping greens. The irresistible Stay and Play packages the golf club offers means you’ve got no reason not to make Daysland your new weekend camping destination.

Coal Creek Golf Course – Located right on the original Dodds Coal Mine, Coal Creek is likely the only course to have you teeing off surrounded by vintage coal mining gear, like a tipple, all the while making your way through difficult black sand traps. That’s right – black sand traps! It’s a scenic course that demands a different playing style and their weekday specials are worthwhile for anyone looking to make the drive out to hit a few balls.

Mannville Golf Course – This golf course is one of the most challenging in Alberta. Combining a beautiful terrain with twisting fairways, thick rough and tricky greens. Be sure to put in some time at the course’s practice putting greens before trying your skills on the course. Fortunately, the golf course does its best to keep you occupied. Offering exciting packages like $1 a hole Mondays, senior specials on Tuesdays, and stay and play packages, with more than 60 camping lots on their grounds, there’s no reason to say no to a challenge at the Mannville Golf Course.

Double Damn Golf Course – Located 30 minutes south of Camrose, Double Dam’s 18-round course is all you need for a day of family fun! Along with daily golf specials, the onsite restaurant also has delicious daily food an drink deals to satisfy your appetite. End your night at the spacious campground so you can wake up and do it all again tomorrow.

Miquelon Hills Golf Course – This course is especially great for both experienced and new golfers alike. Family owned and operated, it offers scenic views across nine holes for you to enjoy while you play. Seasonal RV camping is also available with each site being equipped with power and water so you can camp in comfort. For members, fun events and tournaments are happening all summer, so make sure you don’t miss out on any of the fun!

Hardisty Lakeview Golf Course – Right next to the beautiful views offered by Hardisty Lake is the 9-hole Hardisty Lake Golf Course. Memberships are available at great prices as well as 10-round passes at the price of 11—what a deal! The course also features a campsite as well as a fully-licensed restaurant and patio to end your day with a great meal and relax with a few drinks. Since it’s open seven days a week, head out there any time!

Edgerton Golf Course – With beautiful greens and and fairways, golfers of any skill level will enjoy this course only minutes outside of Edgerton. Equipment and accessories are available to rent, and a full-service clubhouse is on-site for you to relax after a great game. RV sites are also available for booking, so plan your golf trip today!

St. Paul Golf Course – Offering a variety of services including cart rentals, golf lessons, practice range, a practice green, and a brand-new clubhouse, St. Paul Golf Course has it all. With great service and great prices, head to the Pro Shop for some new gear and stylish golf apparel. Don’t forget to also stop by the Tin Cup Restaurant and Patio which is open seven days a week for great eats!

Lac La Biche Golf Course – With some of the most scenic views in Alberta, spend your summer at Lac La Biche Golf & Country Club! Open past 10pm most of the summer, this 18-hole course will be sure to challenge your game. Check out the new expanded pro shop and all of the membership promotions and events happening this season. Don’t forget to check out the Pelican Grill for breakfast, lunch, or dinner—open daily!

Viking Golf Course – Great for all golfing abilities, the Viking Golf Course located on the East side of town offers 9 holes and beautiful landscapes. Men’s Night is on Tuesdays and Ladies’ Night is Wednesdays so you can enjoy a great outing with friends. As well, the town’s sports grounds are right next door and the RV park is nearby for all of your camping needs. Sounds like a weekend trip waiting to happen!
