Step Into the Stories of Gibbons’ Past
Why Go?
Spend a relaxing afternoon exploring the six distinctive buildings that make up the Gibbons Museum site, located in Emily Oliver Park in the Town of Gibbons. Step inside the McLean Bros. General Store, built in 1929, where original shelving and counters recreate the feel of a 1930s shopping experience. Wander through the historic Roberts House, a 1907 log home built along the Athabasca Landing Trail, and discover the McWhirter home, complete with a working wood-burning stove that still warms visitors during the annual Christmas event. Throughout the site, exhibits and artifacts bring early community life to life.
What’s Unique?
Each building offers an authentic glimpse into the past, filled with original structures and hands-on history. Highlights include the town’s first fire equipment housed in the fire hall, a 1948 International Harvester tractor, and a collection of antique farm tools like a cream separator and seed cleaner. The preserved buildings, original interiors, and seasonal experiences, like hot chocolate from a wood stove, create a truly immersive step back in time. For hours of Operation visit their Facebook page or email at gi***************@***il.com.
