BONNYVILLE Attractions & Events

Be sure to stop at the Shaw House Visitor Centre where the Bonnyville and District Chamber of Commerce (Bonnyville’s Accredited Visitor Information Provider) will support your discovery journey in exploring the Lakeland area. Plus provide great tips on local events and activities.

A statue of Angus Shaw, a late 1700s fur trader and explorer, stands guard at the Bonnyville & District Museum, where you can relive the adventures and witness the hardships of life in the fur trade. It also features the pioneering families of the area. Join them for their Canada Day Opening Ceremony event July 1 from 11-2 pm. Nearby, the Bonnyville & District Centennial Centre is a year-round hub for recreation, fitness, events and entertainment, including a 32-foot indoor climbing wall - designed to portray real rock surfaces with an overhang and maneuverable rocks for the added challenge!  Scheduled events taking place throughout the year at the C2 Centre are Bounce House Fun Day, Indoor Community Garage Sales, and Yuk Yuk’s Annual Comedy Night.

In June take in all of the action of the Bonnyville Pro Rodeo and the CPCA Chuckwagon Races. Enjoy the annual Gear Grabbers Classic Car Show in July. ‘It's all about mud and music’ in Bonnyville in August with the four-day Extreme Mudfest - a mix of mud-racing and music. Don’t miss the awesome Drag Races in summer.

Nearby Jessie Lake is home to hundreds of shore and songbirds (including Great Blue Herons, cranes, ducks and eagles). Viewing platforms and a 10 km interpretive trail enrich your experience. Swing your clubs at the Bonnyville Golf & Country Club. Camp across the road at the Vezeau Beach M.D. Campground.

#Takeittothelake in natures playground. Did you know the M.D. of Bonnyville operates 11 campgrounds in the Bonnyville and Cold Lake Region including Chicken Hill Lake, Moose Lake and Muriel Lake - all within 20 minutes of town, so bring your toys and enjoy some family fun.

In winter go ice fishing or snowmobile along Alberta’s Iron Horse Trail or the Bonnyville Snowdusters snowmobile trails.

Eat, Shop & Stay

Drop into their farm or check out the Saturday Farmers’ Market at the Centennial Centre.  Check out some of the works of art for sale at the Bonnyville & District Museum from the Aurora Visual Arts Association.
