Visitors are always welcome in Glendon, the Pyrogy Capital of the World, and home to the World's Largest Pyrogy. If you are looking for the perfect spot for a family picnic and a picture, Pyrogy Park is the place to go. The park is equipped with picnic areas, two new modern playgrounds, including a zip line, and of course the must-see giant Pyrogy.
Canada Day Celebrations include a community bonfire, where you can roast your own wieners and marshmallows and are followed by a fabulous fireworks show.
Glendon Mud Bogs and Derby is organized by the Glendon Agricultural Society. It is a one-day event that hosts demolition drivers from across Alberta, all vying to win the big money and claim the championship. Enjoy a pancake breakfast, Farmer's Market, Village Parade, charity bar-b-que, all leading up to the demolition action which takes place 2 miles north of Glendon on Highway 882.
Glendon Pyrogy Festival celebrates the unbeatable Ukrainian culture. There is live entertainment throughout the afternoon. Children are kept entertained with a balloon artist and temporary tattoo artist. Everyone feasts on Pyrogy Plates featuring the famous Glendon made pyrogies and locally produced sausage. The highlight of the day is the Pyrogy Eating Contest, but be sure to save room for dessert. The annual pie sale features light flaky pastry and homemade pie fillings. A great ending to a perfect pyrogy day!
