Innisfree is a friendly community that is sometimes called “The Hidden Village,” as it is tucked away on the side of a ridge, north of the Yellowhead Highway 16. Located one hour 15 minutes east of Edmonton and one hour west of Lloydminster, Innisfree is perfect for a day-trip or weekend retreat. At over 100 years strong, Innisfree is a community-driven village rich with history and pride.

Innisfree Cut Bank Penguin

A faithful reproduction of the 27-foot-tall Talking Penguin statue in Cut Bank, Montana. Built by a Hollywood film crew for the 2013 film, "Cut Bank," which was filmed here.

Attractions & Events

Innisfree is home to the Cut Bank Penguin, Ernie. Ernie was given to the village by the Hollywood production team of the movie Cut Bank, which was filmed in Innisfree and starred Liam Hemsworth, Billy Bob Thornton and John Malkovich. Come by and see the Cut Bank Sheriff Station and Steeley's Garage.

For a lesson in history visit the Prairie Bank of Commerce Museum in the village. Check out some of the events during summer including the Innisfree Fishing Derby in July and Innisfree Fair Day in August.

Outdoors

You can enjoy year round facilities outdoors in the village including a curling rink, a natural ice skating arena, a public trout fishing pond, baseball diamonds, tennis courts and children's playgrounds. If you are travelling between May and September, Innisfree also offers a wonderful overnight experience at the Recreation Park located 2 km south on Birch Lake. An excellent place to unwind, you will see colourful summer sunsets that will complete long days of rest and relaxation. If you like the beach, then you'll also find nearby Wapasu Lake a terrific place for leisure and water recreation.

A must see is the new Innisfree Art & Gift Gallery, housed in the former United Church in Innisfree. Be sure to lift your spirits at the Innisfree Hotel & Liquor Store.
