Marwayne is honoured to have two businesses that have been granted Municipal Historic Distinction. One being The Historic Marwayne Hotel built in 1926 (which we have been told by some may be haunted) and the second one is No Need to Nock, a café, gift and clothing store which is located in the historic stone building on Railway Avenue. Marwayne is proud of its volunteers and strong community-minded citizens, and aims to provide quality services to both residents and visitors alike. Enjoy the many sporting events, dances and activities that take place at the hall, arena, curling rink and in the downtown core.
Their ongoing yearly events include the indoor Professional Bull Riding; the town Community-Wide Garage Sale and Treasure Hunt; the Marwayne Rodeo Street Dance; the Fall Fair, and the Light Up Marwayne & Christmas Tradeshow.
Eat, Shop & Stay
Marwayne has a revitalized downtown core where visitors can see newly renovated store fronts and streetscapes enhancements including park benches to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. Grab a coffee, visit local shops, have a meal at one of the local restaurants or even stop in for a cold one at the local Hotel. For overnight stays, the Historic Marwayne Hotel offers renovated rooms with all the charm of a 1926 year old hotel. Make tracks to Kat Traks Sweet Shop on Railway Avenue where you can indulge in 152 flavours of fudge, salt water taffy, famous Foothills ice cream, and more. Get your vehicle washed at the same time and fill up with propane. Also located on Railway Avenue is Country Blessings Gifts & Décor where you'll find quaint gift items for all occasions. Not far away is Tannas Bros. Home Hardware where you'll find everything you need for home improvements and more. You can stock up on wine, beer and spirits at the Marwayne Liquor Store. ATB Financial can take care of your banking needs and is conveniently located at No Need to Nock where you can find great fashions, accessories and gifts. If you need to do laundry head downtown to The Laundry. Visit the new Nurture & Organic Market store in Marwayne at 107 Centre Street. They carry vitamins, supplements, beauty products, gifts and more. Ten kilometres south of Marwayne is Kathy's Greenhouse. The garden center and farm market has plenty to offer so stop on by for a visit.
Outdoors
The Marwayne Chamber of Commerce Campground is located at the end of Centre street by the Arena and Community Hall. The Campground offers full-service camping sites with power, washroom & shower facilities, WiFi and a dumping station.
Take a short 10 minute drive north of Marwayne on Highway 897 to find exciting events and scenic views at Lea Park. Enjoy the Lea Park Professional Rodeo and Lea Park Jamboree in June. Make sure you take the drive to the top of Snake Hill and take in a spectacular view of the North Saskatchewan River, Lea Park Raven Golf Course, and overlooking the Lea Park Campground and Rodeo Grounds. It’s a great place for a family reunion or to just stay the weekend. At Lea Park Jubilee Regional Campground, enjoy free WiFi, full-service camping sites with power, washroom & shower facilities, or stay in a camping cabin. Try your luck at fishing on the North Saskatchewan River, take in a game of golf, or leisurely traverse the numerous trails in the area.
