Cold Lake, AB – With the triple threat of sun, sand and surf, Natalie and Dallas McCue’s weekend away has seemed almost like a tropical getaway instead of an Alberta vacation. There is a distinctly posh side to Cold Lake that checks all the boxes of an exotic luxury holiday: enjoying some beach time, relaxing with margaritas, taking a dinner cruise on the water and finding a quiet beach for sunset.

Three hours north of Edmonton you can find your own slice of Margaritaville, just follow the McCues’ example.

Kick back at Kinosoo Beach

Despite being a public beach, Kinosoo Beach has a resort feel to it. There are volleyball and basketball courts, a zipline, grassy picnic areas and soft sand for spreading out in the sun.

Get on the water with Wicked Watersport Rentals

When it’s time to get moving, the McCues grab kayaks from Wicked Watersport Rentals right on the beach. The shoreline is long and the lake is shallow at Kinosoo, perfect for trying a new water sport.

Taste the tropics at Mamacita’s

In between beach activities, fresh margaritas, tacos and all the fixings will have your tastebuds dancing at Mamacita’s. Natalie and Dallas can’t resist the house signature tres leche cake for dessert.

Cruise Cold Lake in style

The best way to top a couples’ beach day is with a cruise and dinner on the water. With Edgewater Experiences you can customize the experience to your preferences.

As the sun lowers in the sky, the couple find a secluded beach to touch down on land again. Rich gold and copper tones paint the horizon as the fading heat lingers warm on their skin and the cool water laps their feet. It might be northern Alberta but it feels like it could be the other side of the world.
