• • Outdoor Ice Skating – The Flagstaff Region is known for its rinks and outdoor ponds. Grab your skates and head on out to one of our public outdoor rinks today!

  • Ice Fishing – Winter activities don’t come much simpler than ice fishing. All you really need is a frozen lake. Grab a warm drink, cozy blanket and make a hole in the ice. Try ice fishing as one of our lakes or ponds: 
    • Diplomat Trout Pond – Located East side of Highway 855, across from the Diplomat Mine Interpretive Site. Approximately 16km from Forestburg. 
    • Fish Lake – Located North of Highway 13, 2km West of Hardisty. 
  • Cross Country Skiing- Enjoy the winter outdoors? Then you will enjoy cross country skiing on the Hardisty Ski Trials. Members of the community groom trails where you can see the odd deer, jack rabbit, or owl while you ski across nature’s beauty.
  • Take a Walk/Snowshoeing- Flagstaff offers local residents and visitors a variety of parks and walking trails to enjoy the fresh air and all that nature has to offer. Bring your own snowshoes or just a pair of winter hiking boots to experience all Flagstaff has to offer: 
    • Big Knife Provincial Park 
    • Hardisty Walking Trails 

• Heritage Park, Killam

• Sedgewick Walking Trail
