Elk Island National Park is the perfect place if you’re feeling adventurous! You’ve got your pick of seeing bison, moose, birds and more. You’re also rewarded with plenty of things to do including hiking, biking, canoeing, geocaching, golfing, and more!
CHURCH TOUR
As the Cradle of Ukrainian Settlement in Canada, Lamont County is proud of its heritage, and it’s also known as the “Church Capital of North America” with over 40 historical churches! Take a day or a weekend to discover each historical gem during a self-driving tour and experience the County’s beautiful countryside and fascinating history. Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village

Immerse yourself in Ukrainian heritage at Lamont County’s prime attraction, the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village, located at 195041 Highway 16 East. This season introduces an exciting addition: the Village now serves as a Sticker Station for the 2024 Roadtrip Adventure Game! BRUDERHEIM
The Town of Bruderheim – Home of the Bruderheim Meteorite, is a progressive and welcoming community situated near Highway 15, a mere 20-minute drive east of Fort Saskatchewan.
METEORITE MARVEL
Check out the Bruderheim Firehall, where you can view a piece of the Bruderheim Meteorite that fell in 1960. It is the largest recovered meteorite fall in Canada. The impact from this large rock shook homes, and could be heard across from over 5,000 sq km area, with approximately 700 fragments found in the area. Learn more about Bruderheim’s history at the Old Walker School, transformed into a museum and a designated Provincial Historical Resource. Explore the paved Bruderheim Heritage Trail and watch for informative markers highlighting Bruderheim’s cultural and natural heritage. Enjoy a skate at the Cosmic Skatepark or visit the Spring Creek Wetland Interpretive Centre and learn why wetlands and native plants are important to quality of life. LAMONT DISCOVERIES
Discover the Mohyla monument, which marks the centenary of Ukrainian settlement in Canada, located just north of Lamont. A few must-sees in the area are the murals on the north wall of Lamont High School, the north and east walls of the arena, Lamont Health Care Centre, and several other locations around town. Discover more treasures by bargain hunting at Lamont’s Town-Wide Garage Sale on June 1. For all your vintage and retro desires, make sure to visit the Elk Island Thrift Store.
SUMMER EXCITEMENT
Experience all the excitement this summer with the Lamont & District Agricultural Society as they host the Bullarama Supreme on May 4 and the Summer Sizzler Rodeo on July 13-14. Prepare for fun-filled times! Including a kids rodeo, combine crunch, dance and more. Be sure to visit the Lamont Farmers’ Market on Wednesdays at the Lamont Recreation Centre from 3:30 – 7 pm for all kinds of great goodies, gifts, and more!
CHIPMAN
Nestled in Coyote Country, just 45 minutes east of Edmonton on Hwy 15 lies the Village of Chipman. The village is a welcoming, quiet and affordable community, situated in the heart of a highly productive agricultural area.
HISTORIC HERITAGE
Chipman was first settled in 1892 with the arrival of homesteaders from Parry Sound, Ontario, then followed by a wave of settlers from Ukraine. Both groups have played a significant role in the growth of local agriculture and the heritage of this community. Chipman has easy access to Elk Island National Park and is known to be a commuter community to nearby larger centres.
EXCITING EVENTS
Plan to take in the ever-popular Chipman Car Crafters Show & Shine with over 350 vehicles on display! Watch for events to come from the Chipman Agricultural Society: FB @chipmanag. Eyes to the sky! Witness the Edmonton Soaring Club’s members piloting gliders without motors. Visitors can watch or experience the flight, taking off from Chipman airstrip with expert pilots.
MUNDARE
Located east of Edmonton, the Town of Mundare is just a mere 45-minute drive away and is easily accessible via the Yellowhead Highway and Highway 15. It makes for an ideal day trip destination and a desirable place to call home.
MUST-VISIT STOPS
The Basilian Fathers Museum is a must-visit for history enthusiasts, as it showcases a captivating collection of artifacts that highlight Ukrainian culture and religious heritage. The museum also serves as the Visitor Information Centre for the town. A stop in Mundare is not complete without seeing the 42 ft high (6 ton) sausage replica known as the World’s Largest Sausage built by the Stawnichy family – it makes for great Instagram moments and fun selfies! Don’t miss out on Agri-Days from August 16-18, showcasing a fantastic parade.
OUTDOOR FUN
There are numerous outdoor activities to entertain the whole family, including a skateboard and spray park, as well as the 18-hole Whitetail Crossing Golf Course. Residential lots are available for sale near the golf course and throughout the town. You are welcome to explore the listings with a local realtor. Ukraina Park is also an excellent destination to enjoy the sunny weather, offering three baseball diamonds, a playground, and camping sites.

ANDREW
The Village of Andrew is situated at the junction of Highway 855 and 45, just an hour’s drive east of Edmonton.
Discover the small-town charm and wander along Ed Stelmach Avenue, named in honor of the resident and Alberta’s 13th Premier. Don’t miss the opportunity to snap a photo with the World’s Largest Mallard. Explore the village’s fascinating history by visiting the Andrew Museum within the train station. The museum features a collection of themed rooms displaying a variety of exhibits and historical artifacts.

Come October, the Andrew Agricultural Society is excited to host the eagerly awaited Garlic Festival at the Andrew Community Centre. This event includes a whole lot of garlic, a fantastic farmers’ market, children’s activities, and a community-wide scarecrow contest. Shop for fresh produce, unique gifts, and handcrafted items at the celebrated Andrew Farmers’ Market.
VENTURE OUTDOORS
Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the baseball diamonds and a skateboard park. Bring your binoculars to the designated wildlife viewing areas south and east of Andrew. Enjoy the convenience of staying at the fully equipped RV Park. Centennial Park offers beautiful flower gardens and a spacious gazebo, making it the perfect location for weddings, gatherings, and performances.
