In the fiery glow of a prairie sunset seen from the balcony of Journey North Cider Co., it’s easy to feel pretty satisfied with your day, especially if you’ve spent it making the best of a Bonnyville getaway.
Picture scenes of a rockin’ 50’s style jukebox breakfast, a peaceful paddle on the lake, nourishing and healthy refreshments and perfectly synchronized spa relaxation. This is where I find myself, after a day of exploring with a local trio of women who I have nicknamed the Charlie’s Angels of Chill.
Here are some tips for doing a Bonnyville day in style, a la the Angels:
Swing into it with Jennie’s Diner
With its primary coloured interior, cadillac bench seats, classic bar (with swivel bar stools!) and working antique jukebox, a meal at Jennie’s is as much about the ambience as it is about great diner food (and incredible cupcakes!). Start the day here to fuel up for your adventure.
Get out on the lake
Bonnyville has lakes in pretty much every direction, but Vezeau Beach at Moose Lake is among the most accessible. It’s quiet and spacious, so there’s lots of room to get out for a paddle or, if you’re feeling extra adventurous, rent a jet ski from L&D Rentals for a rip around the lake.
Refresh with cold-press
Core Juice will hit you with an infusion of healthy goodness. Their cold-pressed juices and healthy to-go snacks and meals will make your tongue and your tummy happy at the same time.
Luxuriate at Elegance 719
With terry robes, spa luxuries and the soothing neutral backdrop of Elegance 719, there’s no way not to feel like a million bucks here. In addition to all the usual comforts, Elegance 719 features an otherworldly salt room: imagine importing the fresh air and mineral richness of the Himalayan mountains into your bedroom.
It may all sound exotic, but it’s less than three hours from Edmonton. You deserve a little pampering, don’t you think?
