A rich history with many great shops and services makes Vegreville a welcoming stop to make some memories and have some fun! Read on for some exciting events and activities happening this summer and fall. Only an hour’s drive from Edmonton on Highway 16.

Head outdoors!

Take a roadtrip any time of the year to see the World’s Largest Pysanka (Ukrainian Easter Egg) just off Hwy 16A in Vegreville. Stop for a #selfie and explore your surroundings at the Vegreville Municipal Campground and Elks/Kinsmen Park. Located here is the Travel Alberta Accredited Visitor Information Centre where you can meet the friendly knowledgeable staff and check out some Ukrainian souvenirs. From here you can hike or bike around Vegreville on the path near the river which is part of the Community Linked Trail System.  Take the kids to the Lions Club Community Spray Park & Playground located on 47 Ave with access off of 49 Street.

Enjoy many species of birds while fishing at the Rainbow Park Reservoir located just south of town off Highway 16. This scenic parcel of land boasts a man-made lake that is stocked with trout by Alberta Fish and Wildlife.

Tee off at the Vegreville Kinsmen Golf Course, which features fantastic greens, challenging fairways, and lots of water that comes into play on five of the nine holes.

Tempt Your Taste Buds!

For eats and sweets, Vegreville is the place to be! Don’t miss the Pysanka Park Market under the open skies every Thursday evening between June and August, where you can get fresh baking, garden fresh veggies, crafts, kettle corn, and more. Also, next to the big Pysanka, you’re invited to enjoy authentic homemade Ukrainian perogies and sausage by Baba’s Best Cooking Co. during the summer months. For dessert, treat yourself with ice cream, mini donuts or kettle popcorn from the Little Red Ice Cream Wagon, also on-site near the Pysanka.

For more tasty local food, visit Skyline Greenhouse on main street where you can stock up on fresh tomatoes, greens, veggies, and other local products. Right next door is Prime Cuts Meat & Deli, home to Vegreville Garlic Sausage. They also carry a great selection of specialty Ukrainian items including perogies and cabbage rolls.

Love Pizza? Look no further, there are several great choices to choose from! You can save big and fill your belly at the award-winning Perry’s 2 for 1 Pizza and Pasta featuring delicious dishes including pizza, wings, and subs for delivery or takeout. Sit back, relax and enjoy a tasty meal at Boston Pizza or enjoy an evening in their sports bar.

Shop till you Drop!

Stroll through historic downtown Vegreville to find a selection of unique gifts, souvenirs, and local delicacies while taking in the stunning murals and interesting historical sidewalk plaques.

Find some treasures at Lucille’s Antique’s. Visit Vegtel Engraving for unique gifts, souvenirs, jewelry, and so much more. Next door you can visit Vegreville Natural Health Centre featuring genuine herbs, grains, and supplements to help you live a natural and healthy lifestyle.

A popular stop is Everything Tea and Gifts. Delightfully refreshing and soothing in nature, tea has a magical effect, making this store the place to be! They have a wonderful selection of flavours, teaware, and home décor. As well, find authentic handmade Ukrainian ceramics, tablecloths, wooden ornaments, and icons at the Ceramic Cottage. And don’t miss Ziegler Fashions & The Quilt Rack where you can find a huge variety of quilting products and services.

For a large selection of gifts, souvenirs, and travel needs shop at Vegreville Drug Mart. After that, you’ll want to drop into Regent Health, an all-purpose wellness store chock full of all your favourite brands of nutritional supplements and natural beauty products.

On the east side of town, stock up or replenish your groceries and supplies for your roadtrip at Adam’s No Frills. They have you covered with value pricing that’s simply hard to beat. Across the street from the Vegreville Pysanka, Tower Tack & Western Wear will leave you looking great with their knowledgeable staff, and everything you need for western fashions and accessories.

Located in a giant warehouse, Young Farts RV Parts proclaims the lowest prices in Alberta and carries both new and a huge inventory of used RV parts.

On the west side of town, for a great selection of wine, local craft beer and specialty spirits, visit Liquor Den. For a fabulous selection of cold beer, coolers, and wine, with in-store tastings, stop at Salty’s Liquor Store, which also has the largest walk-in cooler in the area.

Nearby, you can stay at the Pomeroy Inn & Suites located within walking distance of shops and restaurants. A variety of amenities are available such as an indoor pool with a waterslide, 24-hour business centre, and WiFi.

Great Golf — April to October
Swing your clubs at some of the area’s best golf courses this summer. Enjoy the challenging, scenic and superior amenities at the Vegreville Kinsmen Golf Club, Mundare Whitetail Crossing Golf Club, and the Mannville Riverview Golf & RV Resort.

Borrow-A-Bike — Now to September 27th
Looking to stretch your legs after a long drive? Stop in at the Visitor Information Centre at the Vegreville Elks/Kinsmen Park and check out their FREE to borrow bikes. Take a bike for an hour or for the day—just bring it back before the centre closes. All bikers need to do is provide a valid driver’s license, fill out an online waiver and wear the provided helmet. Grab a map for this year’s #ArtWalk2020 and have fun as you #explorevegreville.

Splash into Summer — May to September
Beat the heat at the Lion’s Club Community Spray Park right next to the expansive Vegreville Centennial Library.

ArtWalk  2020 — June to August
ArtWalk 2020 is a self-guided showcase of Vegreville Visual Artists work throughout our community, including newly installed ART POSTS featuring samples of local visual artists’ work.  Celebrate the arts in our community as you explore Vegreville with fresh eyes. Pick up a brochure at the Vegreville Visitor Information Centre and enjoy Vegreville’s #ArtWalk2020.

Pysanka Park Markets— June 25th to August 27th
Come one, come all to the festive Pysanka Park Markets held on Thursdays from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Vegreville Elks/Kinsmen Park. Pick up supper, and shop for delicious local baking, fresh veggies, crafts, and more.

Community Drive-In Movie – September 26th
Enjoy a drive-in movie with the family on the Jumbo screen at the Vegreville Fair Grounds. Stay tuned for updates. Come for the movie and enjoy the opening day of the Vegreville Corn Maze.

Vegreville Corn Maze — Opening this fall!
Phase two is complete and the maze has been cut. This year’s theme: “Tractor Trails” featuring the outline of an antique tractor with roughly 1.3 km of paths to and from. Opening the last weekend of September! Stay tuned for more updates at https://www.facebook.com/vegrevillecornmaze/

The Haunted Hike — Weekends in October
It’s a scary good time at this one-of-a-kind Haunted House located in a giant warehouse in Vegreville. Experience a frightening and magical production, rated 5 stars by almost all who enter, calling it amazing, excellent, and reasonably priced. You’ll laugh and scream your head off! Do not miss this event, open every weekend in October. Exact dates and hours TBA.

A Very Vegreville Christmas — November 21st
Celebrate with the Town of Vegreville when the community comes alive with the spirit of Christmas. The day will feature gifts galore at the annual Christmas market, unique handicrafts and art for all tastes, festive family activities, and a special visit from Santa at the annual Christmas Light Up Parade.
