Alberta Parks Day

First recognized across Canada in 1990, Parks Day is a great opportunity to discover the treasures and natural beauty that exist all around us. Parks Day is celebrated annually on the third Saturday of July with participating parks across Alberta. Events and activities showcase the many ways Albertans enjoy recreating in Alberta’s provincial parks and highlight the role parks play in protecting ecosystems, habitats and species at risk.

This year Alberta Parks celebrates 94 years as a parks system on Saturday, July 19th

Protecting over 27,600 square kilometres of the province, more than four times the size of Prince Edward Island, the extensive system of almost 500 provincial parks and protected areas ranges from conservation-focused to recreation-focused parks. From the hot, dry badlands, to vast boreal forests, to alpine tundra, Alberta Parks hold some of the most diverse, unique and breathtaking landscapes in the world.
