Visit the Gibbons Historic Museum, where you will explore well-preserved buildings filled with artifacts from the past century. Then, immerse yourself in the town’s natural beauty by taking a leisurely walk through its lush green spaces. For a family-friendly outing, visit Jurassic Forest Park – Sticker Station and step back in time with encounters of lifelike dinosaur replicas. With its rich history and scenic landscapes, Gibbons offers a delightful retreat for travelers of all ages.

Town of Legal
If you are looking for a quick trip out of the city to collect stickers for the Roadtrip Adventure Game, head north on Hwy 28 to the Town of Legal. Legal is the “French Mural Capital of Canada” and has the highest concentration of murals per capita in the world. Create your own photo opportunity while taking in these wonderful works of art! Grab Some Grub, and your sticker at the Belley Up Pub and Grub. On main street is Heidi’s Haus – stop and indulge in some sweets or an ice cream treat.

Thorhild County
To continue collecting stickers, just a short jaunt north of Redwater, you will find Thorhild County, offering plenty of family-friendly activities and events. Find a wide array of unique gifts at Nook in the Woods country store. Stock up on farm fresh foods at Moose Wood Acres, and collect your sticker. If you are looking to cool off from the summer heat, stop at Half Moon Lake Park Natural Area or head further north to enjoy the beach at Long Lake Provincial Park. If you’re interested in seasonal camping give George’s RV Park a call. Stop in the townsite of Thorhild to visit the museum. Then head over to Marvelous Munchies Bakeshop and grab some delicious snacks.

Lac La Biche Region
Explore the beauty of Hwy 28’s northeast route or head north for lakes, beaches, and wilderness alongside city comforts. Discover Winston Churchill Provincial Park with its trails, beaches, and campsites. Enjoy shopping, dining, and a spray park in Lac La Biche hamlet. Fridays bring the Lac La Biche Farmers’ Market. Another great museum to explore is the Lac La Mission. Nestled in a serene rural landscape on the south shore of Lac La Biche Lake, the Lac La Biche Mission Site stands as a testament to Alberta’s Roman Catholic heritage. Enjoy a stop at Mini Parc Heritage Park to see miniture replicas of the towns original buildings.

Village of Waskatenau
Venture further and get back on Hwy 28 for a quick, twenty minute drive to the Village of Waskatenau. Take a photo at the wooden train trestle for your social media posts. South of town, you can hop on to Victoria Trail, which was once an Indigenous trail leading to Victoria Settlement. Bring your tent or RV and stay at the immaculate Pine Creek Campground. Waskatenau is also the gateway to the Smoky Lake Region, filled with opportunities for outdoor recreation, with over ten campgrounds and parks for you to enjoy. Follow the multi-use Iron Horse Trail, which is perfect for biking, hiking, quadding and horseback riding.

Town of Smoky Lake
While in the Smoky Lake Region, be sure to visit Metis Crossing, which engages visitors through their heads, hearts, hands, and hunger through Indigenous culture. The Town of Smoky Lake, also known as the Pumpkin Capital of the World, offers plenty of shopping and dining experiences, including Ukrainian goods from the Old Fashioned Bread Bakery & Deli and locally grown food from Serben Farms Store. Stop at Smoky Lake Hardware for your hardware needs. A day trip may not be enough time to see all the sights, so plan your stay at Northern Lights RV Resort the Smoky Lake Inn. Town of St. Paul
Back on Hwy 28, the St. Paul region is located just south of the highway. The short detour is worth the visit to see the world’s first UFO landing pad located in the Town of St. Paul. If you are more of a history buff, you will enjoy visiting the Musee St. Paul Museum, which showcases the town’s origins as a Metis colony. Shop at St. Brides Trading Post, Northeastern Alberta’s largest supplier of Aboriginal art and craft supplies. Grab a Refreshing Beverage and a snack at The Nest Cafe & Boutique, and scan the QR code for a chance at bonus prizes. Taste the local flavours of the region at the Twisted Fork restaurant. Town of Elk Point
The Town of Elk Point is also part of the St. Paul region and just a short twenty five minute drive from the Town of St. Paul. Here, you can pose for a photo with the 32-foot Peter Fidler statue and celebrate the history of the 1790’s fur trade. Shop and dine in the downtown core. Village of Glendon
North of Hwy 28 is the Village of Glendon, the Pyrogy Capital of the World. If you are looking for a roadside attraction, this is a must stop on your trip. Visit Pyrogy Park, home to the World’s Largest Pyrogy, which creates another spectacular photo opportunity. Take a break at Minnie Lake or Wolf Lake park for a picnic or dip in the water. Town of Bonnyville & M.D. of Bonnyville
Located two hours northeast of Edmonton, Bonnyville has plenty to offer. The M.D. of Bonnyville operates eleven campgrounds the region. Visit the Bonnyville & District Museum, to learn more about the fur trade and visit the statue of Angus Shaw, a late 1700’s fur trader and explorer. There is something for everyone at the Bonnyville & District Centennial Centre, including fitness centre, indoor track, climbing wall, indoor playground, arenas, movie theatre and café. Step back in time to dine at Jennie’s Diner & Bakery. Enjoy camping with Rocky Meadows Country-Getaway or book your stay at Hamilton House Inn & Adventures on your way to Cold Lake. On the west side of Bonnyville you can camp at the Vezeau Beach M.D. Campground. Next door is the M.D. of Bonnyville Visitor Information and Interpretive Centre, located in the Shaw House. It is adjacent to the recently constructed dual-vehicle boat launch and 15-slip dock. Pick up a souvenir by local artisans in the Trading Post or kick back and relax on the deck overlooking Moose Lake while enjoying a coffee or ice cream. Take the kids to the jumping pillow by the playground — it’s a great place to soak up some sun and fun! Have a bike? Take a hike! The Shaw House is the hub of the M.D.’s Moose Lake trail system.
