Bordering Edmonton city limits, Sherwood Park offers plenty to see and do as you head east from the capital city. History buffs will enjoy Sherwood Park’s Heritage Mile, a street dating back to a time before Sherwood Park even existed. The Strathcona County Museum and Archives showcases rotating exhibits that portray the County’s natural and human history. Enjoy the outdoors at Broadmoor Lake Park, golf at Broadmoor Public Golf Course or head inside for a variety of family and sport activities at Millennium Place. Sherwood Park is home to ten major shopping plazas, as well as smaller boutiques like Real Spirit Women’s Boutique and JACEK Chocolate Couture. When you are ready for a break from shopping, stop at the Barr Estate Winery, Roasti Coffee Co., Branches Fresh Food, or Confetti Sweets to tempt your taste buds. For one stop shopping, eating, and entertainment, visit the Sherwood Park Mall. Country Chic is located in the mall and carries over 70 local handmade vendors. Beyond Sherwood Park, adventure awaits in Strathcona County. Take the kids to any of the eight spray parks in the County. Visit the Strathcona Wilderness Centre and create your own outdoor adventure. Next door you will find Dreamcatcher Ranch where you can take in fun events and meet their furry friends. Experience the Beaver Hills Biosphere for a unique nature-based outdoor opportunity. Travel through Strathcona County and visit the eight rural hamlets, each with its own distinctive rural characteristics. Town of Mundare
Heading down Highway 16, take a 2 minute detour to the Town of Mundare. Here you will find the World’s Largest Sausage standing at 42 feet high. The sausage replica was built by the Stawnichy family in 2001. Stop by the Stawnichy Mundare Sausage store to stock your cooler with sausage, along with other Ukrainian foods and goodies. Picnic, play or stay at the Ukraina Park and learn more about Ukrainian heritage and history at the Basilian Fathers Museum. On main street visit the Mundare Bakery for some fresh baked goods, or try one of their island-inspired meals using authentic Jamaican spices and recipes to tantilize your tastebuds. A couple doors down is Baba’s Bistro. Stop in for a delicious home cooked meal or a yummy dessert and grab your sticker!

Town of Vegreville
Hop back on Hwy 16 and head east for the short drive to Vegreville. A must see and selfie stop is the World’s Largest Pysanka (Ukrainian Easter Egg) at the Elks/Kinsmen Park. While there go for a free paddle boat ride! Join the Vegreville Agricultural Society for the Country Fair August 9-13, plus their weekly Pysanka Park Market, held each Thursday evening. There is no shortage of shops to explore in Vegreville, offering a wide variety of goods and services. Located on main street, Vegreville Natural Health Centre will provide you with knowledge and advice regarding supplements and other natural health care products. Heading east of Vegreville on Hwy 16 for approximately forty minutes will bring you to the Village of Mannville, home to the first AGT building in Northern Alberta, now the Mannville Historical Telephone Exchange Museum. Vermilion is located at the junction of Hwy 16 and Hwy 41, just fifteen minutes east of Mannville. Village of Kitscoty
Travel south of Marwayne just fifteen minutes, to Hwy 16 and the Village of Kitscoty. This village was named after a famous cromlech, or burial chamber – three large stones in a tripod arrangement – found near a settlement in England known as Kits’ Coty House. You will find a miniature replica of the cromlech in front of the Village Office and underneath the water tower. Take a stroll through Heritage Park, where you can view over 100 varieties of lilacs and plaques honoring the pioneer spirit of the community. Kitscoty Regional Park Campground offers beautifully treed sites with power, nestled between the golf course and the ball diamonds. Play a round of golf at the Kitscoty Golf Club, where you will not find sand traps, but sand greens. Give yourself plenty of time to browse through all of the local crafts and products at Farmstead Market & More – definitely worth the roadtrip. Be sure to grab a bite to eat at Only Sourdough Bakehouse & Pizzeria, this year’s Sticker Station!

The City of Fort Saskatchewan is located just north of Strathcona County. Fort Saskatchewan offers a unique blend of urban amenities, historic attractions and small-town warmth. Head downtown to find the Fort Heritage Precinct, showcasing the history of the North West Mounted Police (note: the museum is closed for this season). There is plenty of green space in the area to relax or enjoy the city’s events and festivals. Photo opportunities abound with the city’s flock of sheep that visit each summer. Town of Bruderheim
Head east from Fort Saskatchewan on Highway 15, then north, to find the Town of Bruderheim. This is the home of the Bruderheim Meteorite – the largest recovered meteorite fall in Canada. A piece of the meteorite is displayed in a showcase at Bruderheim Firehall. Plan to visit Old Walker School – it was a four-room schoolhouse built in 1908 of birch veneer that served until 1927, when it was destroyed by fire. A new school was built, which is now a museum and a designated Provincial Historic Resource. Bruderheim has plenty of outdoor opportunities, including the Bruderheim Heritage Trail, Cosmic Skatepark, Spring Creek Wetland Interpretive Centre and Queen’s Park. Bruderheim Starlight Campground offers twenty four full service camping sites.

Town of Lamont
Just 10 minutes east of Bruderheim, you will find the Town of Lamont, which offers a full range of services and amenities. Hillside Park offers a chance to cool down at the spray park or have a picnic at the playground. Relax and enjoy some fishing at the Lamont Fish Pond, home to trout which are restocked each spring. If you are looking for unique gifts and treasures to take home with you, stop and shop at Elk Island Thrift Store or Lamont Home Hardware. Plan your overnight stay at Lamont Days Inn.

Village of Andrew
From Lamont, head east on Hwy 29 then head north on Highway 855 and you will enter the Village of Andrew. Another photo opportunity awaits as you pose with the World’s Largest Mallard. Bring your binoculars to the designated wildlife viewing areas south and east of town. Visit the Andrew Museum to explore the town’s history. Plan your visit for a Saturday afternoon, so you do not miss the Andrew Farmers’ Market. Then head to the Duck Stop for some regular or glow bowling. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the baseball diamond, skateboard park and the fully services Centennial RV Park. Stop in for a reved up drink and a bite to eat at Unwind Bar & Grill. Town of Two Hills
Take Hwy 45 to Two Hills, located thirty minutes east of Andrew. This community was once settled by European pioneers and is now home to many Mennonite families who have emigrated from Mexico, bringing a distinct Mexican flair to local dining and shopping establishments. Visit Pioneer Park, which features bronze statues of local pioneers. Stop by the Two Hills Historical Society outdoor museum, which features a display and items used by the pioneers in the area. Plenty of recreational activities and facilities are available, including the Lions Golf & Country Club. Camp at DM Geleta Park and enjoy a picnic at the park.

Village of Myrnam
Head twenty five minutes east to the community of Myrnam for a variety of family recreation opportunities. Visit beautiful Dove Park and take some time to relax in the peaceful atmosphere. Stop by the miniature and life-size Ukrainian Catholic Church, a popular roadside attraction. Enjoy golf at the Myrnam/Derwent Golf Club. Camp at the golf course or head to Jackfish Lake Campground. Check out Sentimental Salvage & Design, a creative furniture, art and home décor boutique, as well as a do-it-yourself projects studio. Hamlet of Clandonald
The hamlet of Clandonald is a “little hamlet with lots of heart”, just thirty minutes east of Myrnam. Visit the Clandonald Country Store to get your sticker and shop for some groceries and unique gift items. The agricultural grounds are home to many social functions, as well as RV sites, dumping station and ball diamond. For the sportsman in the family, Clandonald Fish & Game Assn. operates a gun range. Additional campsites, playground and ball diamonds can be found not far away at Rusylvia Hall.

Village of Marwayne
A road trip east of Edmonton is not complete without a stop in the community of Marwayne. You will be greeted by the friendly, small town atmosphere while enjoying the picturesque location.
