CAMROSE ATTRACTIONS & EVENTS

Ride the train with Mirror Lake Express Train Rides as pictured above. This popular little train is 92 ft long, carries 24 passengers, and was beautifully crafted by a resident of Camrose. Plan to visit on a Tuesday or Thursday evening during the summer months to enjoy a delicious ice-cream and take a leisurely train ride along the picturesque shores of Mirror Lake.

For the history buffs, Camrose & District Centennial Museum is where community treasures and stories are aplenty within thirteen heritage and replica buildings. As well, the Camrose Heritage Railway Station & Park gives you a chance to tour the 1911 Canadian Northern Railway Depot and thirteen spectacular heritage gardens. After the tour, relax in the tea room and browse the giftshop.

There are numerous events taking place throughout the year in Camrose including the ever popular Jaywalkers Jamboree, and the premier outdoor music festival Big Valley Jamboree. Whether you’re a true-blue country music fan or just enjoy getting out for some great fun, this is an event you won’t want to miss including the Camrose Kickn’ Country Parade.

More music events take place at the Augustana Campus (University of Alberta). Enjoy student and faculty music concerts – vocal, choral and instrumental – as well as dramatic productions throughout the year. Camrose Resort Casino, The Bailey Theatre, and Jeanne & Peter Lougheed Performing Arts are other venues that provide regular musical entertainment.

Mirror Lake Park is the starting point of 38 km of paved/shale walking trails that wind gracefully through the Stoney Creek Valley and the central part of the city, presenting outstanding natural settings for picnics with the family, cycling or long walks with your best friend. Swing your clubs at the beautiful Camrose Golf Course. Rudy Swanson Recreation Park is home to several outdoor facilities including the Kin Park Ball Diamonds, soccer pitches, tennis courts, basketball courts, beach volleyball courts, shale walking trails, the water spray park and a skateboard park. Stay a day, or stay awhile with your big rig at the Camrose Exhibition Trail RV Park – a full service campground with modern facilities.

If you’re looking for fresh local produce, there are numerous farmers’ markets in and around Camrose. The Downtown Market and Rose City Market at the Duggan Mall are both on Thursdays. The Camrose Saturday Farmers’ Market also at the Duggan Mall goes from 9 am to 1 pm. A new market, Camrose Campus Market at U of A Augustana Campus runs on Saturdays 10 am - 2 pm, Oct-May. Plus there’s another Farmers’ Market nearby at Miquelon Lake Provincial Park on Fridays.
