Located about 40 km south of Lac La Biche, Kikino Métis Settlement is home to more than 1,100 members and is a vibrant blend of Métis and Cree culture. Kikino comes from the Cree language, meaning “Our Home,” a fitting reflection of the community’s deep roots, pride, and connection to the land.

Experience the spirit and pride of Métis culture at Kikino Silver Birch Rodeo and Celebration Days. The annual event brings the community together with an exciting amateur rodeo featuring bull riding, saddle and bareback events, and thrilling chuckwagon races. Enjoy live music, a lively talent show, family-friendly activities, and a spectacular fireworks display.
The Kikino Métis Settlement is home to a rich community of Métis performers and musicians, including the renowned youth dance troupe, the Kikino Northern Lights Dancers. Celebrated as some of Canada’s finest traditional Métis dancers and jiggers, the group was founded in 1978 by Kikino Métis Elders who recognized the importance of passing down traditional music and dance to future generations.

You can find it at the entrance to the settlement, just three minutes west of Highway 36—perfect for a quick photo stop and cultural highlight.
