Attractions & Events
Take a trip back in time at the Viking Museum, housed in the former Viking Hospital at the north end of Main Street. Explore a village of restored buildings, including a one-room schoolhouse, log store, church, and farmhouse. Inside the hospital, discover historical artifacts, vintage tools, and International Harvester tractors. Don’t miss the restored Milk Wagon, the last horse-drawn delivery wagon in Viking, used until 1965.
Enjoy a summer full of family fun in Viking! In July, catch the Cloverlodge Stampede with its parade, fireworks, food vendors, beer garden, and the Chuckwagon & Chariot Races, a three-day event with thrilling action, kids’ activities, and great food. Auto fans won’t want to miss the Viking Historical Society’s Summer Car Show. In August, cool off at Brettzky’s Hockey Challenge at the Viking Carena Complex, a community fundraiser founded by Brett Sutter and local volunteers supporting youth sports.
The fun continues into fall with the Annual Fall Dinner and Concert featuring Clayton Bellamy in November, hosted by the Viking District Agricultural Society. Follow local organizations on social media for event updates.
Outdoors
At the south end of Main Street, visit the Station Gallery to admire works by local artists and step inside the Viking CN Train Station, the only historic operational waiting room of its kind between Edmonton and Winnipeg. In the summer months, the Station Gallery Guild serves homemade sandwiches, soup, pie, and coffee.
Right next door, Troll Park highlights Viking’s Scandinavian heritage, while the town itself shines with tree-lined streets, vibrant gardens, and scenic walking trails. Pick up a map at the Viking Museum and take a self-guided tour through the community and its businesses.
Stay overnight at the newly renovated Viking Inn, camp under the trees at Eastview Park Campground, or choose from nearby motels. New for 2025, Eastview Park offers fully serviced sites with online booking at letscamp.ca. Shaded by towering trees and located next to the playground, the park features a Viking ship with raised sails and a climbable whale, celebrating the community’s roots while keeping kids entertained. A gazebo with picnic tables is perfect for a picnic or classic wiener roast. Be sure to catch Music in the Park this summer for a relaxing evening outdoors.
Golfers can enjoy the Viking Golf & Country Club, while just east of town, Camp Lake Park offers camping, a sandy beach, boat launch, and playground—a perfect spot for a family getaway.
